Position performs a variety of maintenance, repair, and custodial duties necessary to contribute to the efficient operation of the bank. Ensures all bank property in Thompson Falls is neat, safe, clean, properly functioning, and ready for business daily; contributes to the efficient purchasing and management of supplies and equipment. Provides backup to Plains Branch regarding maintenance, repair and custodial duties as necessary.
Daily Responsible for ensuring that the Bank is secure, neat, clean, and ready for business on a daily basis by 7:30 a.m. As needed, provide custodial duties in the absence of regular cleaning crew. Pick up customer and employee parking lots; clean sidewalks of snow, ice and other debris; and clean main entry doors, ATM, dumpster enclosure and drive-up equipment. May need to adjust daily work hours to accommodate this duty. Coordinates and assists companies that are currently contacted to accomplish interior and exterior maintenance projects/work, including but not limited to, lawn mowing, light fixture maintenance, plumbing repairs, pest removal, sprinkler systems, landscaping, signage, parking lot sealing and striping, etc. Sweep, vacuum, and mop general area; empty wastebaskets, inside and outside; and clean and sanitize restrooms as needed. Move/reconfigure, straighten and arrange office furniture; remove and destroy dated lobby magazines. Maintain and change reader boards at Regional branches. Pickup and drop off branch mail at post office at regularly scheduled times. Provide training and supervision to custodial positions; oversee work performed by custodians.
Weekly Water external and internal plants; eradicate weeds; vacuum or sweep parking lots and sidewalks; and wash down sidewalks, (April-October, as possible during rest of year). Ensure all confidential documents are shredded and other waste is stored for one week. Dust and clean all desks, cabinets, countertops, chairs, and pictures as needed.
Monthly Wash all windows, (April-October, as possible during rest of year). Degrease drive-up area. Wash underside of drive-up area, entrances, and south side windows to remove insects, cobwebs, etc.
Annually Seal outside post areas as necessary to prevent bees, bats, spiders, etc. Destroy all dated records, and ensure certification of destruction on retention records.
As needed Provide minor mechanical adjustments of heating and lighting systems. Ensure only approved items are attached to bank property. Assist in set up and break down for lobby and lunchroom public and bank events. Perform minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, and other related maintenance activities, plus minor repairs to office equipment. Move and store freight and supplies. Wash down parking lot as directed by supervisor. Assist at Plains Branch with building issues. Provide miscellaneous deliveries/pickup to other bank branches, including Missoula and/or non-bank destinations and needed/assigned.
Vehicle Maintenance Schedule and handle routine bank vehicle maintenance, including oil/lube, tire changes/rotation, etc. Makes sure vehicles have adequate gas levels.
Supply and Inventory Maintain office and custodial supply inventory at designated levels; maintain system for employees to requisition supplies and equipment. Order supplies and equipment from designated vendors and suppliers and give invoices to appropriate person. Store items received from vendor.
Building Security Adjust alarm system to local conditions (temperature, moisture, etc.) to prevent false alarms and to reduce service calls. Conduct monthly security test of alarm systems. As assigned/designated, may respond to alarms and file appropriate incident reports when called by law enforcement agencies, check and reset system. Ensure all file cabinets are locked and computer terminals and other machines are turned off at the end of the day. Open delinquent safe deposit boxes and replace locks and keys.
Miscellaneous Duties Empty dishwasher and make customer coffee for lobby daily. Assist in shred of confidential documents. Semi-annually: change bank clocks for Standard and Daylight Saving Time; replace batteries.
Supervisory Responsibilities Oversee custodial staff assignments and provide back-up of all job functions within the department. Maintain schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Provide guidance and direction when needed/necessary; effectively address performance and other work-related issues with staff; and ensure all staff understand and comply with bank and department policies and procedures. Provide training to new and current staff; ensure staff has thorough understanding of all phases of their job including complete training and knowledge of job functions, products, policies, and procedures. Keep current on safety and other issues that affect the work unit. Personally complete all required/assigned training and make sure staff has also completed the required training. Identify and effectively resolve problems ranging from employee error to equipment problems. Perform annual reviews and communicate results to staff, together with action items/goals and improvement plans as needed. Ensure staff performance is maintained at acceptable level. Maintain open communication with supervisor through sharing and accepting suggestions and ideas. Promote team efforts in all areas. Adjustments to change are made as necessary while maintaining a positive attitude.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and related equipment; continually reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee may be required to travel to intercity and intrastate locations in performance of job duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is exposed to mildly toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and occasionally may be exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds into/out of vehicle, on/off shelves, up/down stairs, and to/from parking lots and building. The employee must be able to move maintenance equipment from ground level into vehicle; climb ladders; and be able to move all types of equipment/supplies to/from storage areas. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Distance vision is required in order to observe persons in the lobby and remain aware of what is happening at all times. The work environment has a moderate noise level and no other risk factors while performing the essential functions of this job.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of building maintenance practices, procedures and techniques; tools needed to perform various repairs on the building and equipment; bank safety and security compliance regulations; principles, practices and techniques used to effectively manage and supervise department and staff; and purchasing and inventory practices and procedures.
Skill in areas related to tools and cleaning products used to perform job duties; building equipment and related systems.
Ability to effectively read, comprehend and follow instructions; manage, lead and supervise employees; maintain responsibility and accountability for work performed within assigned areas; and work both independently and in a team environment.
Minimum Education and Experience
Combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma and minimum two years directly related work experience, including documented supervisory experience. Employee must possess current valid driver’s license.
